Many businesses don't need much more than a three to five page web site to establish themselves online as credible professionals.
A pre-made HTML template website design can be free or as little as $25 for a pretty nice generic site layout. Although not ideal for customizing your site, it can be a great way to get your internet feet wet without breaking the bank.
A pre-made template at Open Source Web Design, 4Templates.com or templatemonster.com can have just as much impact in some markets as a $3000 custom design.
There are definitely some drawbacks to choosing a template if you want to customize it a ton. But, if you can save a few grand, it's nice to at least consider going that route.
